Stinky Triffid

I haven’t started to research what this is called, or what kind of plant it is!
It really pongs! Atracts flies! (they were scared off by my presence)
Something from outer Space!

Sheep caught in the Fence

Norma from next door rang quite early the other morning and said one of their sheep had got caught in the fence, and as Richard had already left for work would I mind going over and try to free it. She had tried but to no avail. I duly went over, studied the situatio, then went over to the other side of the fence. The sheep was so un-nerved by my close proximity that it pulled it’s head out and ran down the hill!

My business partner and I went down to Hastings for the day and had time for a trip to the summit of Te Mata Peak.080214-temata-1.jpg

Blind Cat in the Fifth Flock

This cat was one of last year’s kittens and survived the winter but not without cost.
She is sight impaired. Doesn’t have acute hearing either.

If I walk lightly she doesn’t hear me, hence the photo’s!

When she does, she runs off crashing into and through the undergrowth.
It doesn’t show up in these photos but she’s slightly the opposite to crosseyed, eyes turning out.
She seems to live in the Bush (Rainforest) at the bottom of the run.

Sunday 10th February ’08: Sue has just informed me that she found the little blind cat had died.
Probably just too many parasites.

Banana & Corn in the Fouth Flock

This is a Tongan Banana variety that grows quite tall, 3-4 meters, and has large bunches of sweet eating fruit.
I got a number of pups from Grey Lynn and have planted most of them at the end of water trough/tank runoffs so they get water in the dry season, Feb-March.
I’ve got some heritage corn growing in there and some soya beans have just sprouted.
These ultimately are for the chickens and need the wire netting other wise they’ll demolish everything, especially the Banana palm!
