Kitekite Falls – Piha

On ANZAC Day we took the children on a walk up to the Kitekite Falls at the head of the Piha valley.
Took us about an hour as dear old froggy, our blind old labrador, had to sniff his way there!
Lovely bush (rainforest) on the way.

Flowering Rata

Reuben and I went for a drive out to Piha yesterday and as I was driving a flash of orange at the side of the road caught my eye. Rata!! I’ve never been able to get up to one so close and personal when in flower! Probably because they only flower every 3 – 5 years!

South Piha Beach

After the Slow Food Convivium picnic I went home, collected Tyson & Taylor and off to Piha.
We usually go to North Piha but today decided on a change.
When you come out to these West Coast Beaches don’t forget your foot wear.
The black iron sand can really get painfull!
And ……SWIM BETWEEN THE FLAGS !!!

Muriwai Beach is the most northerly of our West Coast Beaches.
It stretches for 35 odd kilometers up to the Kaipara Heads, entrance to the Kaipara Harbour, the Southern Hemisphere’s largest!
